I am a United States Marine Corps veteran and cybersecurity student at Full Sail University, building on a background in secure communications, communications security (COMSEC), compliance, and technical support. Military Background
During my service in the United States Marine Corps, I worked in military communications and supported operations requiring secure, reliable, and time-sensitive information exchange. My experience included multiple transmission systems, COMSEC, electronic keying material (KEYMAT), equipment accountability, and compliance with Department of Defense security policies and procedures. These responsibilities strengthened my attention to detail, technical troubleshooting, risk awareness, and ability to work effectively in high-stakes environments.
Path to Cybersecurity
My interest in cybersecurity developed during my second deployment while working alongside data and network Marines who built and maintained the ship's servers and network infrastructure. Wanting to better understand their role and contribute more effectively to the mission, I began learning about networking, virtual machines, identity and access management, server administration, and technical support. By the end of the deployment, I was supporting both communications operations and routine help desk responsibilities. This experience showed me how communications, networking, systems administration, and security work together and motivated me to pursue cybersecurity as a career.
Education and Current Focus
I hold an associate's degree in Information Technology from Full Sail University and am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity there. My coursework has included Linux administration, Windows Server, networking, virtualization, web servers, databases, cloud technology, and cybersecurity fundamentals. I earned the ISC2 Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) credential in 2026 and continue developing my knowledge in cloud security and governance, risk, and compliance.
Practical Learning and Portfolio
Outside the classroom, I use my personal homelab to build and manage virtualized Linux and Windows environments and gain hands-on experience in networking, web hosting, containerization, and systems administration. My original portfolio deployment used a virtual machine and a LAMP stack—Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP—with WordPress as the content management system. I use this site to present the labs and projects I complete, explain their purpose and implementation, and demonstrate the skills developed through each effort.
Career Direction
My motivation for pursuing cybersecurity is rooted in service. I want to help protect people, organizations, and critical systems from evolving threats. I am especially interested in work that strengthens the security and resilience of the United States and its partners, while recognizing that both public- and private-sector organizations play essential roles in protecting national infrastructure, economic stability, and public trust.
In the near term, I am focused on completing my degree, earning industry-recognized certifications, expanding my practical experience, and pursuing SOC analyst and incident response roles. Over time, I hope to develop deeper proficiency in security analysis, cloud security, governance, risk, and compliance, system hardening, and security assessment. My goal is to grow into a position of greater technical responsibility where I can contribute to secure, reliable systems and support the organizations and communities I serve.

A Proxmox-based environment used to build and manage Linux and Windows virtual machines while practicing server administration, networking, virtualization, and infrastructure troubleshooting.

This portfolio began as a practical implementation of a Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP stack, with WordPress used to organize and present technical work for potential employers.

Created a Windows Server 2025 virtual machine in Proxmox, configured its network settings, and set up Active Directory Domain Services for the isolated SOC lab. Ongoing work includes DNS, user access, and server maintenance.

An Ubuntu control machine manages package updates on two Rocky Linux web VMs, Docker-Moore and Nginx-Moore. A manual playbook run successfully updated both hosts using SSH and sudo.
Configure unattended credentials and scheduling; remote updates are not yet automated.
Deployed an OPNsense virtual firewall in Proxmox to separate the SOC lab from the home network. Configured its WAN and LAN interfaces, DHCP for lab machines, and a rule blocking lab access to the home network.
Segmentation, traffic control, and a safe environment for security exercises.
Installed Wazuh on an Ubuntu virtual machine in the isolated SOC lab and brought up its dashboard. Worked through service startup issues and secured dashboard access as a foundation for future monitoring exercises.
